TALKS ON BOARD

1.You grew up in beautiful Mallorca, the sea around. You had time to appreciate and respect that environment.
Which are your best memories about the island, people living there and the sea?

Well, that’s my world. I have always had the chance to be in contact with water.

It is true that I come from a beautiful island like Mallorca. At the same time, I have always lived here between Manacor and Porto Cristo and I have been very close to the sea all my life.

My father, ever since I was a kid, had a small boat and we always loved to go out diving. I still love the sea and it would be difficult to style my life without it today. Every time I have the chance, I come back to Mallorca to stay a bit away from everything.

2. You are recognized worldwide as one of the best tennis player ever. You travel a lot in the international scenario but maintain a strong link to your roots. When you go back to Mallorca, how important is to find a MCY 76 waiting for you? Do you feel home onboard?

Actually, my yacht is one of the places where I spend most of the time when I am in Mallorca. I love to be back to the island and stay with my friends, my family and all the people that I really love.

Being on board my MCY 76 gives me the chance to get away when I want. I love to be with people but, at the same time, the boat gives me the chance to get away and be by mysel, or only with the people that I want to be with, every time I need to.

I love to have the boat always waiting for me, even if I don’t use it every time. It is so important to know I can use it every time I need it, this is something that makes me happy and helps me to enjoy and distract myself when I want.

3. You decided to have a boat to spend days in freedom with nature and beauty around. Did you share with someone close to you the decision to choose a MCY 76? And which were the key factors: design? reliability? safety? comfort? customization?

Sure, I have shared it with my father, my family and some close friends.

I visited a lot of different yachts, and the MCY 76 was the perfect choice for the kind of life I like to lead on board. The use of space is different and unbelievable. The main saloon is totally open and not like other boats where there is a living area, then a closed galley and a separate helm position.

I like the fact that I can sit in the saloon and see out the front; it makes the boat feel bigger. The aft cockpit, too, feels bigger than on other yachts in the class, the same goes for the flybridge.

I love the exterior, of course, but the interior is also very important because it’s like a house for me. Even if I am staying in Porto Cristo, I sometimes come on board and stay here.

I changed the main saloon a little bit, and opted to move the galley to the lower deck. I added an extra sofa at the back of the saloon in place of the standard dining table.

With the doors open, it’s a great place to sit and you really feel in touch with the water. I only use the interior dining table in winter; in summer, I normally eat on the aft deck, up on the flybridge or on the bow.

When we do want to eat inside, I had a removable table inserted. I spent a lot of time thinking about this solution, which also means we can swing the TV out and watch it from the aft cockpit. After dinner, if the weather is good, I like to stay outside and watch TV.

I think this is perfect.

4. Along the year, do you have many occasions to boat with your family, friends and spend relaxing moments together?

I love to be with my friends, my family and my girlfriend when I have the chance. Those are the people I am normally with when I am on board my boat. Every year, I take a week just with my friends to go around the islands, we have a lot of fun. It’s becoming a tradition since I was a small kid, we are always together doing this trip every year.

It's one-week trip, normally five to seven days, it depends how much time we have, but less than five days never happened.

Then for example, you know, quite often in the afternoon I go out at sea with my yacht and sleep away. I come back the next morning to work.

I also try to go with my cousins, I have a lot of young cousins, like thirteen between ten and fifteen years old.

Sometimes I go with them too. Those are my trips

5. Do you prefer to cruise along Mallorca or explore elsewhere for a few days?

I normally stay between Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, Cabrera, all around the Balearic Islands.

In Mallorca I think there are two different kind of places; it’s a combination because on the West side we have the back of the mountains, Sierra Tramuntana, which is amazing, amazingly beautiful but it’s true that there are not many beaches, it’s different... the views are different.

On this side of the island where we are now, the East side, there are a lot of beaches, it’s flatter.

I like both things.

You know, the mountains are unbelievable because you see them falling into the sea, it’s amazing. At the same time, here we have a lot of beaches and nice places that I can go away to.

We can swim in a crystal clear water everywhere. I love, you know, both sides.

There are also a few other places that I want to know. I would like to discover all the Mediterranean, to take the boat and go to Croatia, to Greece, to Turkey. For sure, Sardinia and Corsica too.

Discover the Mediterranean is one of the things I’m focused on, one of the goals that I have in the next couple of years when I will have the chance.

Today, it’s not possible. It is too important for me to keep doing well the things that I am doing and be professional today, but it’s something that I really want to do in the future. Go out with the boat and be there for two months, getting familiar with all the Mediterranean.

That’s the first step and then I would love to be to the Caribbean with the boat. I think it is a great place to be because there are a lot of islands close to each other and you don’t need to cruise for days to reach them.

It’s something that I really want to do.

6. When members of your family, your friends, your loved ones talk about your boat, how do they rate MCY 76? Do they approve your choice?

They simply love it.

You know, I bought this boat because I really love the sea. I’m not the type of person who has too many things. It is true that I have some beautiful cars but not because I bought them, they were a present, or prizes I won in a tournament.

I am simple person and the ocean is my passion, this is really one of the few things I always have been completely focused on and passionate about.

In some ways, it is true that this kind of lifestyle at sea is very expensive but, at the same time, it is difficult to find a better way to spend holidays, relax and enjoy my free days.

That’s why I can tell you that my yacht is a big help in my life.

7. It’s a human natural attitude to wish always something more. Are you still happy of your choice in terms of yacht size? Is your MCY 76 ideal for the trips you like to plan?

I am very happy with the choice that I made one year ago.

I am so pleased with the boat, with the kind of life that I have on-board. I think I made the perfect decision for my lifestyle today.

I don’t know what’s going to happen in the future. One of my goals and one of my dreams is to take the boat one day in the future and spend two months on board visiting all the Mediterranean and even the Caribbean. It’s true that maybe in a bigger boat that could be easier, you never know.

You can always dream but, for the moment, I am playing tennis now and I hope to keep playing tennis for a couple of years more…

I just bought this unbelievable yacht, so I am very happy with it.

It is still a dream for me to have this boat. It is not the moment to think about anything else.

8. Did you have celebrities onboard? Can you share any special moment?

Most of the times I am with my people. But I can tell you that Andy Murray came and used the boat with his team for a few days.

I have been on board also with Feliciano López, Marc López, David Ferrer, Juan Mónaco, with a lot of Spanish players that came here to practice and we always went out with the boat. A lot of people. Fernando Llorente, the football player, last week too.

A lot of friends came and very much loved the boat, everybody is always very happy when we have the chance to spend some hours out at sea.

9. Can you define your MCY 76 with no more than three adjectives?

For me, it is an energetic boat, comfortable and safe.

When you are on board you always need to be ready since weather conditions can change rapidly, it’s a little bit of an adventure.

I like the feeling that sometimes the sea provides you. Things may happen suddenly and you need to be quick in taking decisions. For example, last year we were coming back from Ibiza and we had very, very rough conditions on the way to Mallorca.

I was cruising with the MCY 76 and the boat resisted very well and I was happy to see how she reacted in those conditions.

10. Would you recommend MCY to your friends? Why?

Of course I would recommend it.

At the end of the day, when you have a boat of this size you like the exterior life and to be in contact with water and nature.

Honestly I don’t see any another brand, or other boats of this size, able to offer the same possibilities.

On my MCY 76 there are three completely different areas and each one offers a lot of space and comfort providing the possibility to enjoy the sea in an unbelievable way.

I think this is the perfect boat in its size.
